Melrose Action Weekly Crime Report 7/27-8/3/2017

Here are the area reported crimes from July 27th to 12:01 a.m. August 3rd, 2017.  Serious crimes are indicated in red. Crimes are listed in order of occurrence with the most recent being first. If you have any information about these crimes, please contact LAPD Wilshire Detectives at (213) 922-8205.  On “off” hours you may also call the LAPD at 1-877-275-5273. If you wish to remain anonymous, please contact L.A. Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or at their website at www.lacrimestoppers.org.  If a crime is occurring or you spot a potential suspect wanted in connection to a crime, always call 9-1-1 first.

Crime over the 9 days reported here trended DOWN over the previous weeks.  Our last reporting period (which was one day shorter) listed 25 crimes, this week it includes 15 with some overlap.  That’s a significant decrease.  At the last Melrose Action Meeting on Crime, LAPD Wilshire Station Captain Anthony Oddo indicated that more resources would be directed to our area and it appears that those resources and other efforts have had a positive effect, at least in the interim.  However, our 9 years of data for the area shows that the month of August and parts of September normally see spikes in crime — so stay vigilant and report suspicious activity.  Help keep an eye on crime!  Thank you Captain Oddo and Wilshire Station officers.

Neighbors have asked for a meeting this month to discuss the possibility of entering into a contract to hire private security in our area.  We are planning a meeting date this month. More details coming soon.

It is CRITICAL if you have been a victim of a crime of ANY KIND to please file a police report to our L.A.P.D. WIlshire Station located at 4861 Venice Blvd just west of La Brea Ave. Map it here

Our area’s community cop is L.A.P.D. Senior Lead Officer Inga Wecker – you can reach her usually during the week at (213) 793-0708 or email her here.
