Beware in the last couple of weeks, there has been an increase in burglaries of residences under construction. Suspects are taking tools from the construction sites. A great deterent is using motion lights, surveillance cameras and secure equipment and the location.
There has been an increase of reported scams posing as debt collectors, usually claiming to be from a utility company. The scammer informs the victim they need to pay an outstanding bill immediately or else their service will be terminated. They then instruct the victim to purchase a “Green Dot Money Pak” card then call back with PIN number listed on the back. The scammers instantly access the payment from the card. LADWP will not require anyone to use such a payment
